Guess Who's FOUR Pounds?

Post date: Dec 28, 2010 4:33:25 PM

December 28 (AM) - That's right... Grady Jeremiah now weighs four pounds! We rejoice at this weight gain. If you remember, he was born at just 1 pound 15 ounces and dropped to 1 pound 9 ounces. I'm just glad that we don't gain weight as rapidly as he does :-)

He continues to do well with his feeds. He now receives 36 cc (or 36 ml) every three hours. It still has the additions of human milk fortifier and MCT oil to add calories, which he apparently is using well! He had a bit more trouble with bowel movements yesterday and needed the nurse to "encourage" him in that area. Hopefully that's not too much information, but we do appreciate each of you praying about all of these details, including ones like that! Please pray that Grady Jeremiah will continue to digest his food well and that he will have no complications of any type.

In other big news, he is learning how to bottle feed! Yesterday morning he was able to drink 6 cc from the bottle with Julia. By evening when Grady tried to bottle feed him, he was able to drink 10 cc. This morning with the nurse he drank 16 cc! One thing that is so encouraging is that he has no breathing lapses while breast feeding or bottle feeding. Please pray that Grady Jeremiah will continue to learn to breast and bottle feed and that he will be able to quickly take full feeds either way. The quicker he learns how to do so, the quicker he gets the feeding tube removed from his nose, something he repeatedly tries to do himself :-)We continue to be amazed at how quickly "the little guy" has captured our hearts. Even small simple things he does captivate us. We'll close with this picture from "kangaroo time" yesterday evening. Grady Jeremiah reached up and grabbed Grady's chin. Thankfully he didn't move from his cute position when we pulled out the camera this time!
